Space & Setup Requirements
Everything you need to prepare your setup area
Proper preparation ensures a smooth delivery and safe event. Use this guide to measure your space, check access, and prepare for setup day.
Quick Answer: Setup & Site Inspection Checklist
Before delivery day, confirm: (1) space + clearance, (2) gate width + access path, (3) level ground, (4) overhead clearance (trees/power lines), (5) a dedicated power circuit within 100 ft, and (6) water + drainage if it's a slide. If you're unsure, send photos and measurements and we'll confirm fit.
Site Inspection Checklist (Print This)
Space & Access
- βMeasure length Γ width, then add 3 ft clearance on each side
- βConfirm gate width is 36"+ (48"+ for larger units)
- βClear path from truck to setup area (no tight corners / obstacles)
- βTruck can park within 100 ft of setup location
Surface & Slope
- βSurface is suitable (grass / concrete with proper anchoring / indoor with sandbags)
- βGround is level (no significant slope)
- βArea is cleared of debris (sticks/rocks/sharp objects/pet waste)
- βIdentify sprinkler heads / septic lids so they can be avoided
Overhead Clearance
- βNo nearby power lines
- βTree branches cleared
- βIndoor ceiling height confirmed (if applicable)
Power Requirements
- βOne dedicated 15β20 amp circuit per inflatable
- βOutlet within 100 ft
- βOutdoor-rated grounded extension cord available if needed
If This Is a Water Slide
- βHose hookup within 50 ft
- βDrainage plan for runoff
- βWater turned on before crew arrives

Measuring Your Space
- β’Measure length Γ width of your available area in feet
- β’Add 6 feet to each dimension for safety clearance (3 ft per side)
- β’Measure height clearance (trees, power lines, awnings)
- β’Standard bounce houses need 15Γ15 ft minimum + clearance = 21Γ21 ft
- β’Large combos and slides may need 20Γ30 ft or more
- β’When in doubt, send photos to your rental provider for assessment
Gate & Access Requirements
- β’Minimum gate width: 36 inches (3 feet) for most inflatables
- β’Large units may require 48+ inch gate or fence panel removal
- β’Clear path from truck to setup area - no tight corners
- β’Truck needs to park within 100 feet of setup location
- β’Note: stairs, slopes, or obstacles add setup time and may affect pricing
- β’Measure your gate before booking to avoid day-of surprises
Surface Types
- β’Grass (ideal): Natural cushioning, easy staking, best for all inflatables
- β’Concrete/asphalt: Approved with proper anchoring (sandbags or weights)
- β’Artificial turf: Usually fine, confirm with provider
- β’Gravel/rocks: Not recommended - uncomfortable and can damage units
- β’Sand: Possible for some units, requires special anchoring
- β’Indoor: Requires sandbag anchoring and adequate ceiling height
Ground Preparation
- β’Ground must be level - slopes greater than 5Β° may be unsafe
- β’Remove all debris: sticks, rocks, pet waste, sharp objects
- β’Mark and avoid sprinkler heads, valve covers, and septic lids
- β’Mow lawn short before delivery for cleaner setup
- β’Wet or muddy conditions may require rescheduling
- β’If setup is on concrete, sweep area clean
Overhead Clearance
- β’Minimum 10 feet above inflatable height (e.g., 15 ft slide = 25 ft clearance)
- β’Check for power lines - inflatables cannot be set up near electrical
- β’Tree branches must be clear; they can damage and deflate units
- β’Awnings, pergolas, and covered patios are usually not suitable
- β’Indoor setups: confirm ceiling height with rental provider
Power Requirements
- β’Each inflatable requires one dedicated 15-20 amp circuit
- β’Outlet must be within 100 feet of setup location
- β’GFCI outlets are safest for outdoor use
- β’Outlet should not be shared with other appliances during event
- β’Extension cords must be grounded (3-prong) and outdoor-rated
- β’Generator rentals available if no power outlet is accessible
Water Slide Requirements
- β’Garden hose connection within 50 feet of setup area
- β’Water runs continuously during operation (plan for water use)
- β’Consider drainage - where will runoff water go?
- β’Grass areas can get muddy; consider towel station at exit
- β’Water temperature from hose is ambient - may be cold in morning
- β’Confirm water source is turned on before crew arrives

Common Setup Questions
What if my gate is narrower than 36 inches?
If your gate is narrower than 36 inches, we have options. Our crew can carry deflated inflatables through your home if you have a clear path to the backyard. Alternatively, some customers temporarily remove a fence panel for delivery day. Contact us with your gate width and we'll confirm what works for your specific rental.
What if my yard has a slope?
Minor slopes (under 5 degrees) are usually fineβwe can adjust placement or use leveling techniques. Steeper slopes may limit which inflatables are safe to use or require repositioning to a flatter area. Send us a photo of your yard and we'll let you know what's possible.
What if I don't have power within 100 feet?
If your outlet is farther than 100 feet, you have two options: rent a generator (we can arrange this) or use a commercial-grade extension cord rated for outdoor use. Standard household extension cords won't work safely. Let us know your situation when booking and we'll recommend the best solution.
